A poetic thought from the perspective of a fellow countryman who sees himself as a representative face of his nation, he articulates the current state of his homeland and underscores the collective responsibility shared by its citizens
I am the face
I wake up every day,
dreams in the eyes
breathing freedom,
aspiring the skies
I thank my country,
for this beautiful space
I love being Indian,
‘cause I am its face
I fought for freedom,
and laid down my life
But dishonesty corruption,
is killing me like a knife
I have to stay united,
above caste and creed
must fight enemy within,
and not let it bleed
I wish to go to school,
and play as Olympians do
But I am still below poverty line,
‘cause hardworking are very few
I want to be healthy,
but I am still Poor and hungry
Yes, I am the reason for it,
‘cause I am the face of country
Independence Day, Republic Day,
are not just for celebration
It’s a reminder for me,
to get back to building the nation
Let me get back the smile,
get the shine and get the grace
‘cause I love my country and,
I love being its face.
